Assessment evidence you can follow from question to conclusion.

The Alinha Placement Tool is built around a simple principle: placement evidence should be understandable, reviewable, and connected to the curriculum context in which it will be used.

1. Gather evidence

The assessment presents questions and tasks across relevant competency areas. Rather than treating every response as a disconnected point, the system records item level evidence that can later be reviewed.

2. Organize by competency

Responses are associated with the skills or competencies they are intended to measure. That makes it possible to identify patterns: areas consistently demonstrated, areas with mixed evidence, and areas that need further assessment or instruction.

3. Align to Portugal's National Curriculum

The initial product is focused on Portugal. Demonstrated learning is mapped to the relevant Aprendizagens Essenciais by year and subject. The broader Perfil dos Alunos à Saída da Escolaridade Obrigatória provides additional curricular context for interpreting that evidence.

4. Show the evidence

Families can review the questions and response outcomes. Evaluators can inspect the question, available answers, and marked correct answer, supporting content review and audit.

5. Support professional judgment

AlinhaPT does not replace a school’s legal authority or an evaluator’s professional judgment. It is designed to provide a clearer, more structured evidence base for those decisions.
